National Rural Access Program of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development completed the construction work of 3.4 km road in Badakhshan province and inaugurated for public use.
The project was formally inaugurated in the presence of Mirajudden Shams Deputy Ministry of Admin and Finance in Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Mohammad Naser Temory, Executive Director of NRAP/MRRD, Mayati Shan, district governor, local officials, elders, youths and representatives of Agha Khan Foundation.
This 3.4-kilometer road was successfully completed in ten months with a total budget of 18,411,691.00 AFN which was covered from Afghanistan Development Budget.
It is noteworthy mentioning that this road is located along the Amo River and prior to the construction of this road, sometimes the area prevented cross-border traffic due to the prevalence of water and caused severe losses to land owners and houses located along the river but after construction of this road these severe crisis were eradicated and currently local residents can easily travel to the Nessi market from this road.
The construction of this road created 16,312 working days for local communities and about 3000 families directly and 40,000 families indirectly benefited from this project.
